what is your name and in which crew you paint for? DIEK: My name is Diek, representin' the DKH crew, I also assist the guys from the FANATIK crew.
how long do you paint? DIEK: I write since 1996
what about the reactions from the graffiti scene to you about the first place at write4gold slovakia? DIEK: Our winning definitely surprised a lot of people, so as us, our highest ambition was to take the 3rd place, but we did not expect that, because there was real strong competition and we was not considered to be the favourites. Reactions? Reactions are different, but now we can find out who is the real friend and who is not, a lot of people are talkin shit behind our back and they even don't know us. The biggest issue is, that we are not from the capital city of Slovak Republic, but from the eastern Slovakia. Most of the people do not know the graffiti scene here, so they underrate it. Thanx goes to all those who congratulate us that we deserved the first place.
what you think about the topic "ghost rider"? DIEK: In my opinion the theme was good, but each member of our crew imagined under the term "ghost rider" something absolutely different. That was the reason why we started painting more that 3 hours later, because there were a couple of misunderstandigs between the members of the crew, but we managed to solve them. We tried to represent the theme as good as we could, and I think we succeed with that.
you are pleased with the slovakian write4gold event and the employment of the jury was correct? DIEK: Of course, it was real important event for Slovak graffitti scene, that kind of event took place here for the first time, it was also displayed on amount of visitors. I respect the decision of the jury (we cannot complain with that:), but everyone has already make his own decision.
what you think about the chance to win for the dkh crew at the european final? DIEK: We don't want to make great expectations, only the participation at that type of event is honour for us, we will try to do our best to represent not only our crew, but also our city, our country and our people.
how would you describe the slovakian scene in 2 sentences? how far is the graffiti scene developed? DIEK: The ammount of active writers decrease, most of them comes from the older generation of writers. Younger writers has much better conditions now, but instead of this they can't break through. It all depends on social situation in our country. That is the reason why the writers do mostly the illegal stuff than legal. The biggest scene is definitely in the capital city (but everyone has his own opinion), but plenty of really good writers can be found all around the Slovakia.
